Leadership Effectiveness 

Leadership Development is the process of gaining insight, self-awareness, and skills that lead to an inspired vision, powerful communication, and purposeful behavior, so that others take effective action in the midst of ambiguity and challenge.  Effective Leadership is based on the following key actions that raise performance to new levels by providing employees the culture in which to innovate and take greater responsibility for outcomes.

L et your mission be your guide.  Develop a vision of the future that focuses on positive outcomes and adds value to the world.  Be clear about your strategy, and develop a plan that will turn ideas into reality.

E arn the respect of your team through personal integrity.  Stay honest, keep your word, be on time, and do the right thing.

A ttend to work with an inspired attitude.  Communicate your enthusiasm and speak your commitment to goals in a way that inspires team success.

D etermine what resources will best enable your team to achieve your goals.  Train and develop people—they are your greatest resource.  Be a good coach, support to your team, and ask what you can do to make their jobs easier.

E ncourage employees to take creative risks and uncommon action, when appropriate.  Help them stretch to greater achievement and enlarge their capacity for achievement.

R etain talent by helping employees grow and develop.  Provide career coaching, and help them move to where they can best contribute their purpose, power, and authenticity.

S hare problems with your team.  Get people involved and participating, and ask them to offer their good ideas and wisdom.  Seek out innovative ways to overcome challenges and reach success.  Collaborate whenever possible.

H ear issues with an empathetic ear.  Care about your employees.  Be open, be human, and let people know how you feel.

I nvestigate progress along the way.  Learn from mistakes, and redirect.  Do this in small chunks rather than making drastic changes all at once.

P ractice celebrating success and rewarding effort.  Be specific with praise, and do it often.  Don’t wait for next quarter’s results; do it today.
